ADI: Signed long-term production capacity with TSMC Japan plant

Author:netwing    Time:2024-02-27    Number Of Views:

Introduction: Recently, American analog chip giant Adeno Semiconductor (ADI) announced that it has reached an agreement with TSMC to provide long-term chips to ADI through Japan's Kumamoto subsidiary JASM, which is controlled by TSMC.

On February 24th, TSMC Kumamoto Factory JASM held its official inauguration ceremony and is expected to start mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.
ADI stated that based on its partnership with TSMC for over 30 years, the agreement reached this time provides more options for ADI to expand the production capacity of advanced process nodes, further meeting the key platform requirements of ADI's business, including wireless BMS (wBMS) and GMSL (Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link) applications. Both sides will work together to further consolidate ADI's strong hybrid manufacturing network, which will help reduce external factors, rapidly expand production capacity and scale, and meet customer needs.
Vivek Jain, Executive Vice President of Global Operations and Technology at ADI, stated that ADI's hybrid manufacturing network helps provide customers with a competitive advantage. Collaborating with TSMC enables us to provide customers with a more resilient supply chain, respond more quickly to customer needs and constantly changing market conditions, and focus on investing in innovative manufacturing solutions that benefit society and the planet.
Sajiv Dalal, Executive Vice President of North American Business Development at TSMC, stated that TSMC is committed to assisting customers in meeting their long-term capacity needs. We are pleased to expand our ongoing cooperation with ADI and achieve a firm and vibrant journey of semiconductor innovation through strong manufacturing capabilities.
TSMC, along with Sony Semiconductor, Denso, and Toyota, jointly invested in JASM to build a wafer factory in Kumamoto Prefecture. The completed Kumamoto First Factory will provide 12nm, 16nm, 22nm, and 28nm process technologies; The planned second factory is expected to be built by the end of 2024 and put into operation by the end of 2027, providing additional 6nm, 7nm, and 40nm process technologies.
