Infineon announces the launch of the new 40V OptiMOS series of MOSFETs for automotive power supplies using TO lead-free packaging ™ The MOSFET TO-262 of T2 and the mass production of T2 series products are ready.
Infineon's new series of MOSFET products exceed the current RoHS directive's specifications for lead-based solder packaging, and stricter ELV compliance with RoHS standards may be implemented in 2014, which will require completely lead-free packaging. As the industry's first lead-free packaged MOSFET, Infineon's new product enables customers to meet stricter requirements.

Frank Schwertlein, Vice President and General Manager of Standard Power Products at Infineon Automotive Electronics Division, and compliant with RoHS environmentally friendly MOSFETs, assists customers in developing energy-saving "green" products.
Infineon's patented lead-free adhesive crystal (chip bonding) 175 μ m provides multiple improvements for power semiconductors:
Environmentally friendly technology: does not use leads or other toxic substances.
Diffusion welding bonding technology combined with thin wafer process: significantly reduces the RDS (on) of the packaging's conduction resistance value.
The improvement rate of thermal resistance (RthJC) can reach 40-50%: Traditional soft wire solder has poor thermal conductivity, which hinders the heat dissipation of MOSFET interfaces.
Other advantages include: the absence of solder flow traces (bleeding) and chip tiltness issues, as well as more convergent RDS (ON) and RthJC
According to the specifications of the new OptiMOS T2 40V (such as IPB160N04S4-02D, 160A), its RDS (ON) is only 2.0m Ω and RthJC is only 0.9K/W. Compared to similar products that use standard lead soldering, its conduction resistance is reduced by about 20%. OptiMOS T2 has the best performance among products in its class.

OtpiMOS T2 is the first MOSFET in the industry to adopt lead-free packaging for automotive power supplies. Its series of products include IPB160N04S4-02D (160A, TO 263 packaging), IPB100N04S4-02D (100A, TO 263), IPP100N04S4-03D (100A, TO 220), and IPI100N04S4-03D (100A, TO 262), all of which have been launched.
